Gary Cunningham BA(Hons), DipLCM(TD) is a Musician, Educator, Composer and Musical Director with 18 years of Music Industry experience. Having been playing the Piano since the age of four, and joining his first band at the age of nine, he has developed an eclectic and well-rounded portfolio of work spanning from bands to pit orchestras to singer-songwriters both as a keys player and Musical Director. He has also written music for a wide range of independent films and adverts, whilst also running his own recording and artist development company, GEth Music which he uses to help nurture future talent and co-produce works for artists that has received worldwide airplay and recognition, getting spins on the likes of BBC Introducing and various small time international radio stations.
Opting to specialise in Education after a few years touring, Gary spent six years in the mainstream sector working as a Teacher of Music & Drama where he found his passion for Pastoral work and supporting young people with SEND,SEMH and Challenging Behaviour.
Leaving the mainstream world in July 2025, Gary found a place where he could use his extensive skills and qualifications in Music Performance, Education, Mental Health First Aid and Challenging Behaviour to help provide a therapeutic approach to success through tailored Music Education sessions in both 1-1 and group settings. He has now taken on a leadership role as Head of Post 16 at 22 Music Academy, Leighton Buzzard, delivering a Diploma in Creative Music Industry, giving young people an opportunity to achieve recognised qualifications through their passion for music and creativity to provide a path to further education or employment.
It is Gary's profound belief that any young person can be a success, provided they are given the time, tools, patience, compassion and opportunities required for them to be so. Education is more than outcomes on a bit of paper, it is about developing well-rounded, confident and compassionate individuals, enabling young people from any walk of life to become upstanding and positive members of society.
